Responsibilities:
Determination of appropriate radiological technique and position for patient using immobilization and support devicesOperates radiology equipment appropriately1)Positions patient, adjusts equipment, secures and immobilizes support devices as needed to tactfully perform procedures2)Determines appropriate radiographic technique based on anatomy and patients condition to obtain quality films for the radiologists3)Secures history from patient regarding reason for prescribed testAdherence to all accepted safety standards and practices to ensure patient safety and quality patient care1)Uses universal precautions in daily performance of procedures2)Maintains compliance with established safety standards to protect patients and staff at all time (i.
e.
, appropriate patient shielding, etc.
) 3)Maintains exposure badge4)Maintains supplies and cleanliness for assigned room on a daily basis5)Administers CPR as necessary6)Assures accuracy of examination performed and requisition7)Familiar with MSDS information pertaining to chemicals used in the department8)Performs clerical duties such as maintaining adequate patient records, daily statistics, answering telephones, scheduling examinations and giving instructions to patients for examination to provide smooth and continuous department services9)Communicates with patient appropriately and provides excellent care10)Performs other duties as assignedCoordination of quality control tasks1)Inventories supplies and maintains adequate stock2)Labels radiology images according to department standards and criteria3)Prepares contrast media as necessary following department standards and manufacturers recommendations4)Performs daily sensitometry of processors; assists in performance of annual inspections5)Checks film quality and ensures proper and correct labeling is provided6)Performs quality control activities, responds to inquires, coordinates patient flow and communicates with provider to ensure exams are completed in a timely fashion7)Prepares radiology rooms daily8)Coordinates the flow of patients into and out of the department in accordance with established departmental/center procedures9)Performs orders management tracking functionsEducation/Experience Required:
IDNS licenseGraduate from an accredited AMA School of Radiology Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Knowledge of Health Information SystemBasic knowledge of radiology equipmentCPR certification Licensed by IDNSAmerican Registry of Radiologic Technologists registered (ARRT) Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Able to make independent professional decisions pertaining to high quality patient careHigh degree of technical skills Must be able to function with minimal assistance in performing job activitiesAbility to deal with extremely ill patientsAbility to lift and/or move patientsAbility to work under stressful conditions, in difficult situationsMay be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseasesAbility to work during site hours of operationIf position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistanceFor patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when availableUnique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basisAddendum:
